Position Objective:
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures supplier quality performance and supports new product development projects by driving quality planning, supplier qualification, and project execution across the storage supply base in China.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Quality Management
a. Manage and develop suppliers to meet defined quality standards
b. Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product) and ensure compliance
c. Monitor supplier performance (e.g., PPM, complaints, audit results)
d. Drive corrective and preventive actions (e.g., 8D, root cause analysis)
2. Quality Planning & Industrialization
a. Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities
b. Ensure proper execution of PPAP and qualification processes
c. Review and approve control plans, FMEAs, and process documentation
d. Support suppliers during industrialization and production ramp-up phases
3. Supplier Quality and Development (SQE)
a. Support and develop suppliers with regard to quality standards
b. Conduct process analyses and audits at supplier sites
c. Track and ensure implementation of corrective actions (e.g., 8D processes)
d. Drive sustainable quality improvements
4. Continuous Improvement (CIP / Lean)
a. Identify and implement improvement measures to optimize quality and costs
b. Apply Lean methodologies and continuous improvement approaches to increase efficiency
c. Initiate measures to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality
5. Project Management and Interface Function
a. Support projects between European sites and Chinese suppliers
b. Ensure transparent communication between all stakeholders
c. Track project milestones and ensure on-time execution
d. Support industrialization and relocation projects
Qualifications and Requirements:
Technical Qualifications:
a. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field
b. Experience in electronics manufacturing (e.g., inverters) is an advantage
c. Knowledge of aluminum die casting processes is desirable
d. Strong understanding of production processes and manufacturing technologies
e. Experience in supplier quality, supplier quality development (SQD), or production
f. Knowledge of quality methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA, APQP, Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus
Professional Experience:
a. Several years of hands-on experience in production, project management, or supplier management
b. Experience in an international environment, preferably with a focus on China
Personal Competencies:
a. Strong analytical skills and structured working approach
b. High level of initiative and problem-solving capability
c. Assertiveness combined with strong intercultural competence
d. Ability to clearly communicate and present complex topics
e. Hands-on mentality with willingness to work directly on-site at suppliers
Language Skills:
a. Business fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
b. Good German language skills are an advantage
